Resin driveways for Castleford homes

A resin bound driveway is natural stone mixed with a clear resin and trowelled smooth by hand. It gives a seamless finish with no loose gravel to tread indoors, no joints for weeds, and a porous surface that lets rain soak away instead of pooling on the drive or running into the road.

Most of the work is in what you cannot see. The old surface is checked or dug out, the base is built to drain, and the edges are set firm before any resin goes down. Where an existing tarmac or concrete drive is sound, it can sometimes be resurfaced instead, which we can tell you when we visit.

Prefer a different finish? We also lay block paving, gravel, permeable and natural stone drives, so you can compare them side by side before you decide.

How a resin bound driveway is built up

  1. Resin bound surface Stone and resin mixed together and trowelled smooth, usually 15 to 18mm deep on a drive
  2. Base A porous base such as open-graded tarmac, or a sound existing tarmac or concrete drive
  3. Sub-base Crushed stone, laid in layers and compacted
  4. Ground Dug out to the right depth, with the falls and drainage set
A typical build-up. Every drive is different: the base depends on what is there now and the ground underneath, and we explain yours when we quote.

    Part driveway and garden paths

The new paving blends in with the old drive, and nothing puddles even after heavy rain. Materials came on the day they were needed and waste went each evening, so no skip sat outside.

Ask Us A Question

Do you install resin driveways in Castleford?

Yes. We are a Castleford firm, and we install resin bound driveways for homes across the town and the area around it, up to about 15 miles away. Call 07921 384129 or send the form to arrange a free visit and quote.

What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded?

Resin bound stone is mixed with the resin before it is laid, then trowelled flat to leave a smooth finish that rain can drain through. Resin bonded is made by spreading resin over a base and scattering loose stone on top, which gives a rougher finish that water cannot drain through. We explain which suits your drive when we quote.

Do I need planning permission for a resin driveway?

Usually not. In England, a new or replacement front driveway does not normally need planning permission if it is porous, as resin bound on a porous base is, or if rain drains from it onto a lawn or border. Laying more than 5 square metres of a hard surface that drains onto the road does need permission. A new dropped kerb always needs your council’s approval, and listed buildings have their own rules.

What materials can you use for a new driveway?

Resin bound stone, block paving in concrete or clay, gravel, permeable paving, and natural stone such as Indian sandstone. Each has its own look, cost and upkeep, and we talk you through the options for your drive and your budget when we come to quote.

How long does it take to lay a new driveway?

It depends on the size of the drive, how much digging out it needs and the weather. As a guide, one customer on MyBuilder had a block paved front drive finished within a few days. We give you a realistic timescale with your quote, and keep you up to date while the work is under way.

Do you give free quotes?

Yes. We visit your property, look at the space and talk through what you want, then give you a free, no-obligation written quote. Call 07921 384129, email hand.c@icloud.com or send the form.

Are you insured?

Yes. Hillcrest Landscapes carries public liability insurance, and its work is guaranteed too.
